Zigzag Old Time Music Campout

Labor Day Weekend ~ September 1 – 4, 2017

Fiddles! Banjos! Guitars! Mandolins! Basses! Voices! Fun! Food! Campfires! Mountains! Community! Join us for this 3-day weekend of an exciting annual old time music camp in Oregon!

Come one, come all, musicians, singers, music lovers. Bring your instruments and your tent, van/small RV (or reserve a yurt) and take an easy hour drive from Portland to the beautiful Zigzag Mountain Farm on Mount Hood. Camping is in your choice of wooded sites or open meadows.

Our visiting featured artists this year is Jane Rothfield. We’ll have a few local instructors do some workshops as well.

Jane Rothfield is an internationally known fiddler, clawhammer banjo player, tune composer, dance musician, band leader  who has been playing music since “forever.”  She began playing professionally over 30 years ago, and has made eleven recordings featuring her lively, spirited and soulful playing and singing.   Whether it be traditional Old Time Stringband and fiddle music, or traditional Scottish songs and tunes, music for Contra Dances or tight harmony singing, Jane plays from her her heart and musical soul with great technique and expression!

Meals 
We will offer breakfasts and dinners . The cost will be $6 for breakfast, $11 for dinner, or $45 for all 6 meals. You can purchase meal tickets at the farm.

You are welcome to bring your own food if you like.

Breakfast
Breakfasts (Saturday – Monday) include oatmeal, yogurt, Zigzag Mountain Farm raspberries, artisan breads, jam, hard-boiled eggs, organic fresh ground coffee, selection of teas, orange juice. Sunday’s special are assorted pastries, Monday’s special scrambled eggs and tofu scramble.

Dinners
Friday:  Burritos with your choice of grilled chicken, Zigzag Farm made refried beans and salsa, olives, onions, jalapenos, and sour cream. Chips and salsa, and a green salad.

Saturday:  BBQ with bratwurst, veggie patties, pasta and green salads.

Sunday:  Italian Pasta, garlic bread, green salad

~ all meals can be vegetarian ~ 

Gates open noon on Friday, Sep 1, to set up camp. Jamming will commence and continue until Monday, 1pm. Everyone is welcome, whether you play an instrument, sing, love to listen, or just want to relax in a beautiful place, surrounded by mountains and music. Explore the trails and organic gardens.

Located on Mount Hood about an hour from Portland, Zigzag Mountain Farm is home to an organic garden, old homestead, house, yurts, and barn. 50 acres of open meadows and forest, bordering thousands of acres of national forest. A year-round creek flows through the property and 3 major rivers are nearby. The Zigzag Mountain Lookout Trail leaves from the property.
